About Leonard Heid
Leonard A. Heid is a regionalist painter of the Palouse Prairie of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.
The Artist’s work captures the light and mood of the Palouse region and its varied contours. Faithful representations of actual locations are central to his Art. A dedicated regionalist, Leonard’s work conveys a sense of place and moment, echoing the history of the Palouse region and its people.
The motion, luminosity and sublimity of the Palouse prairie inspire his work.
The artist has attended the San Francisco Institute of Art, The Art Academy College of San Francisco and the University of Idaho. 49 years old, he has trained with many professional artists including Dong Kingman, Tony Couch, and Don LaBash.
The artist has completed numerous commissions and is included in the collections of President Tim White of the University of Idaho, Washington State Senator Chris Marr and the Northwest Museum of Art and Culture in Spokane, Washington through their ‘Art at Work’ program.
Leonard's work has been recently selected to display at the U.S. Embassy to Moldova in the Ambassador’s Residence through the U.S. State Dept. “Art at Embassies” program.
